A lovely photo of my son living life BIG on a Mexican beach. With a big energy kid, the great outdoors are my savour. Being stuck inside a smallish house in Seattle during 7 months of cold and rain is my long nightmare. At some point I'll be able to hit the Guggenheim and the theaters of NCY or do the restaurant tour of San Francisco again. But for now, I'll be going to sunny places with beaches and pools where there is plenty of space for the little mister's big energy.

Thank you so much for starting this blog - we do need an honest discussion that includes the whole of parenting spirited children - the underbelly as well as the joys. Though it can feel so good to just tell the truth about the underbelly. I think these spirited children are more common then we think. I think there are many, many parents out there trying to hold it together - they do not let out how incredibly tough it is at times. I am a parent of two very spirited and highly sensitive children - yet both different from each other. Their needs stretch me everyday. How we walk this path is of great interest to me. What I am always looking out for is how can all of us be active, happy, learning - and so much it has to do with being physical. During the winter months we try to be creative - getting physical as much as we can. Fortunately roller skating is something that foots the bill for all of us. I can skate while listening to old school music - my kids have a blast and get the energy out.
